In this case, it really is brain surgery.
Medstar Georgetown University Hospital
For those who suffer from Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders, doing even the simplest things in life can be difficult. At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, the comprehensive movement disorders program is on the forefront of research and provides thorough evaluations, accurate diagnoses and effective treatment options for people with these neurological disorders.
One of the options, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), is an advanced surgical procedure that allows MedStar Georgetown doctors to help patients regain control of their movements and their quality of life. To promote this program, ab+c developed two 30-second televisions commercials, two 90-second online videos, and a series of banner ads to increase awareness of this safe and effective procedure.
The two commercials feature patients whose lives are affected very differently by their disease. One faces a life-or-death situation, while the other is dealing with a quality-of-life issue, but both are anxious to live active lives again.
During the six-week television and online campaign, the Neurology Department at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital saw a 20% increase in patient volumes, with more than 100 inquiries about the program. In addition, 75 patients made DBS-related appointments and 20 patients made non-DBS related appointments, but all referenced the campaign as their source of information.
